What a punch line to all of this.
While my self importance resonates around this town,
I’ve still got this problem of keeping my mouth shut
when I should be shouting people down.
So how could she mistake us for some common trouble
makers
with my shirt, tie and skateboard?
She said ‘It’s such a pity you came here from the city.
I said ‘Babe we’re the locals who were too scared
to go anywhere else’.
And I said ‘Do you see how you’re the problem here?’
she said ‘No’.
‘We’d all be innocents if you’d just validate us.
And can you see the irony that
by acting the vigilante you’re just a sure sign
of the dark ages we’re still living in?’
