[Verse 1]
My brother broke his hand a couple weeks ago
Drove a brick red Volvo on the freeway then he stopped
Called triple A and someone called the cops
The sun was beating down, the day was hot
My therapist says shit you're scared of is easy to avoid
But I always sit shotgun when we're riding
My therapist says fear is good at hiding
I've got myself convinced I'm just deciding
[Chorus]
But I keep having dreams about driving cars
And the rain keeps coming
And the wind keeps coming
And the engine's on (inbound)
And the cars still running
And it all goes running into each other
It all goes running into each other
Call 911 and then call your mother
Call 911 and then call your mother
I keep having dreams about driving cars
I guess that's why I'm learning guitar
[Verse 2]
The dirty old white Subaru we've had since I was younger
In the driveway never looked me in the eyes
No one wants to try this on for size
When my mom would drive me home I close my eyes
And dad would tell us jokes and shit
Say "I'll sleep when we're dead" or something
I don't really remember exactly the word
And I'd get comfortable
And even close my eyes a second
[Chorus]
But I keep having dreams about driving cars
And the rain keeps coming
And the wind keeps coming
And the engine's on (inbound)
And the cars still running
And it all goes running into each other
It all goes running into each other
Call 911 and then call your mother
Call 911 and then call your mother
I keep having dreams about driving cars
I guess that's why I'm learning guitar
[Ending: Voice-over]
Did you know that it takes the average person one second to see the brake lights of the car in front of them and then move their foot to the brake? The drivers don't press the brake, they just move their foot to the break. You are human. It takes a second or so to react to what you see. So if you are one second behind the car in front of you, and they slam their foot on the brakes, you are going to hit them
