Here I am standing with my friends and family,
Singing Christmas carols oh, so tenderly;
Looking in the eyes of those grateful elderly,
See tears of joy as they sing those songs with me.
Familiar songs, even if their minds
Don't remember much that went on yesterday.
They say their mothers sang those songs to them,
There's comfort when they hear those carols play.
That's what Christmas is all about,
Spreading cheer to others from the heart.
Doesn't cost a thing but time and voice,
An instrument or two, it is your choice.
Share with them a dose of Christmas spirit,
You'll spread joy and peace when they hear it.
My eyes gaze at the singers, a smile on their face,
A sparkle in their eyes as they return the gaze.
Our songs ringing through the halls sound angelically,
As we sing our parts together in harmony.
It's hot in here, our throats are feeling dry,
We sang a couple hours on this day;
We're on the 6th time through our set of songs.
It's time to leave, we look around and say:
That's what Christmas is all about,
Spreading cheer to others from the heart.
Doesn't cost a thing but time and voice,
An instrument or two, it is your choice.
Share with them a dose of Christmas spirit,
You'll spread joy and peace when they hear it.
We feel this is the best part of the season;
Giving as He gave, it is the reason
We leave with joyful hearts full of love,
Celebrating Jesus' birth because
That's what Christmas is all about,
Spreading cheer to others from the heart.
Doesn't cost a thing but time and voice,
An instrument or two, it is your choice.
Share with them a dose of Christmas spirit,
You'll spread joy and peace when they hear it.
Please do this year after year,
Spreading lots of Christmas cheer,
Come along, sing a song,
Love and joy just can't go wrong
Because that's what Christmas is about.
