"You Can Close Your Eyes" / James Taylor
Well the sun is surely sinking down,
but the moon is slowly rising.
So this old world must still be spinning around,
and I still love you.
CHORUS:
So close your eyes;
you can close your eyes, it's all right.
I don't know no love songs,
and I can't sing the blues any more.
But I can sing this song,
and you can sing this song
when I'm gone.
It won't be long before another day.
We're gonna have a good time.
And no one's gonna take that time away.
You can stay as long as you like.
(Chorus)
----
I also noticed a single listing of "taylor.james" in the wanted file;
this can probably be removed.

Well, I did a quick Internet search and couldn't find anyone who'd posted on the meaning of this song. To me, he's singing to his dying significant other because she can "close her eyes, it's all right." "You can sing this song when I'm gone" makes you think he's dying. But I think it means when he leaves where she is and he goes home. Words of encouragement are provided: "Tomorrow is another day and we're going to have a good time. . . . No one can take that away. You can stay as long as you like," meaning I think that he plans to be with her the next day, no matter what, and they will have fun before he has to take her back. And finally, he can't sing the blues anymore because he's too grief-stricken. Am I wrong?
