The light hit your face very differently tonight.
I noticed because it left bruises.
A slight discoloration around your cheekbone.
Memories.
I still remember the asphalt moving from 65 to 95,
a lifetime, right before my eyes.
White dashes forming into a single solid line.
Eyes blurring as the tears stream down my face
and I remember opening the door
greeted by the breeze of winter and the feeling of weightlessness.
I fell through the doorway and said hello to my brand new life.
Present.
My life now filled with happiness and bright lights.
Lights that strike your face and cast shadows
and while they are casting shadows,
your shadows are casting stones striking upon your face, leaving bruises.
just remember to hit the ground running.
