Her husband left on Saturday
For a woman that was half her age
Sunday she just stayed in bed
With the covers pulled over her head
But on Monday mornin' she woke up
And loaded up her pickup truck
Took one last look at her old life
Then hit the gas n said "goodbye"
In her faded jeans
And her old baseball cap
All she knows for sure
She ain't comin' back
This isn't how she thought
She'd ever spend this day
Sittin' behind the wheel
On the interstate
40 was quite a ride
But she's changin' roads tonight
And it's such a bittersweet way
To celebrate
She's turning 50 today
She's left that Oklahoma town
The only world she had known til now
And memories of almost 20 years
She watched them in that rearview mirror
Fade away.. aww, but that's alright
Yeah this could be..
The time of her life
This isn't how she thought
She'd ever spend this day
Sittin' behind the wheel
On the interstate
40 was quite a ride
But she's changin' roads tonight
And it's such a bittersweet way to celebrate
She's turning 50 today
Oh, the wind blows her down (wind blows her down)
And the wind blows her hair (wind blows her hair)
Where she goes..
Could be anywhere
40 was quite a ride
But she's changin' roads tonight
Tomorrow's a mystery
Oh n she can't wait (she can't wait)
She's turnin' 50
She's turnin' 50
Oh, She's turning 50 today
