Visions are the skeletons to bear
Images of a faceless man
The voices are screaming again
Illusions are quickly becoming a nightmare
How did it come to this
Battered broken bodies piling underneath me
Only some things, time can mend
Only some things, time can mend
Devour the souls of the cowards
While climbing the ladder of power
Red hands deflecting the blame
All this time it was me, it was me
I'm the deceiver
So make an example of me
Force feeding lies
Entitlement's a disease
Bend the truth to deceive them
Taking a mile when there's no room to breathe
This affliction, we welcome
Now the cold gets colder
Now there's nothing more to say
In familiar silence I remain
Fearing the consequences
Was there an answer all along?
I'm starting to wonder maybe I was wrong
Take on the burden
Take on the blame
There's nowhere to hide
Everyone here has chosen to fly
Don't leave me behind
Down here the city is empty
With heaven still miles above me
Wandering aimlessly
I remain locked in a vacancy
Now the cold gets colder
Now there's nothing more to say
In familiar silence I remain
Fearing the consequences
Was there an answer all along?
I'm starting to wonder maybe I was wrong
Take on the burden
Take on the blame
There's nowhere to hide
Take on the burden
Take on the blame
Don't leave me behind
Now the cold gets colder
Now there's nothing more to say
In familiar silence I remain
Fearing the consequences
Was there an answer all along?
I'm starting to wonder maybe I was wrong
First hearing this song i realized there are religious undertones that strike a theme from some of their previous work ( i.e. wanderer's widowmaker, stories of old's nebechednezer. ). Lauren Babic seems to take this route in some of her song writing it seems and is a theme and basis for her lyrics.
Locked in a vacancy to me sounds as if Lauren is referencing the rapture from the book of revelations from the bible. "everyone hear has chosen to fly" -being raptured
'Dont leave me behind"- Perhaps a call out to god, or a statement so to speak.
"Being "locked in a vacancy" most possibly means that one shall stay on earth during the duration of the revelation ( 7 years of the battle on earth between hell and heaven )---' battered broken bodies piling underneathe me.
Some feelings of personal guilt also shed through out the song in the versus,
"take on the burden take on the blame dont leave me behind'
Again perhaps a cry out to god to be raptured.
This was my take on the song, Feel free to help out and add on or say this sounds incorrect.
Thank you.
