It was a pleasant summer's morn the day all to enjoy
When I awoke and I looked out me full time to employ
In fine and splendid weather I'll leave the work to you
So I'm away to my true love 'cos there's nothing else to do
So I'll kick up my heels
And come and search for you
I'll take my pleasures as they come
'Cos there's nothing else to do
As I set out through meadows the dew beels pearled the spray
In answer to a songbird I kept singing all the way
She was surprised to see come so early there to woo
I said that I'd come over 'cos I'd nothing else to do
We rambled forth together down beneath the trees
While gently swayed the shadow of the branches in the breeze
And as we walked along the paths the meadows for to view
So gently there I kissed her 'cos I'd nothing else to do
Now before the day was over a thought did come to mind
To pop the question to her if to me her heart inclined
"Come change a ring with me my dear come answer yes or no"
She said: "perhaps I will me dear if I've nothing else to do"
