(Verse 1)
Dear Mr. Jesus
I just had to write to You
Something really scared me
When I saw it on the news
A story about a little girl
Beaten black and blue
Jesus, thought I take this right to
You
(Verse 2)
Dear Mr. Jesus
I don't understand
Why they took her mom and dad away
I know that they don't mean to hit
with
Wild and angry hands.
Tell them just how big they are...(I
pray).
(Chorus)
Please don't let them hurt Your
children
We need love and shelter from the
storm
Please don't let them hurt Your
children
Won't You keep us safe and warm
(Verse 3)
Dear Mr. Jesus
They say that she may die
Oh I hope the doctors stop the pain
I know that You could save her
And take her up to the sky
(So she will never have to hurt again)
(Chorus)
please don't let them hurt Your
children
We need love and shelter from the
storm
Please don't let them hurt Your
children
Won't You keep us safe and warm
(Verse 4)
Dear Mr. Jesus
Please tell me what to do
And please don't tell my daddy
But my mommy hits me too.
(Chorus)
Please don't let them hurt Your
children
We need love and shelter from the
storm
Please don't let them hurt Your
children
Won't You keep us safe and warm
(Chorus)
Please don't let them hurt Your
children.(ooh,they need shelter from
the storm)
We need love, and shelter from the
storm.
Please don't let them hurt Your
children.
Won't You keep us safe and warm.
I'm not a very religious person, so when my friend sent me this song, to be honest, I rolled my eyes, but I still listened to it because I was a little curious. When it started playing, I was very surprised by the lyrics. By the middle of the song, some bad memories had resurfaced and I began to cry. Actually I pretty much cried like a baby. It's a beautiful song and the meaning behind it is just, well heart-wrenching. It's terribly sad, but is amazing.
