Jo Ann Campbell, born 20th July 1938 in Jacksonville, Florida, USA began attending music school at age 4, winning honors as a drum majorette at Fletcher High School. In 1954 she traveled Europe as a dancer, then to New York, where she joined the Johnny Conrad Dancers, making TV appearances on Milton Berle, Ed Sullivan and Colgate Comedy Hour.In 1956, she decided to concentrate on becoming a singer. She won her first recording contract with RKO-Point Records in New York and released her debut single "Where Ever You Go" / "I'm Coming Home Late Tonight" in 1956.
