Emerging after the demise of Swedish hardcore trailblazers Refused, TEXT wasfounded by Kristofer Steen, David Sandström, Fredrik Bäckström and Jon F Brännström. All except Bäckström were members of Refused, but stylistically, they have little in common with their forebears.Their debut album, TEXT (1999), is a mix of spoken word, music of various styles, and ambient sound effects, blended into an ethereal, avant-garde sound.
